Commitment to people, the planet, and performing arts for children
“We care for the world from the stage.” With this motto, VIU EL TEATRE embarks on a new chapter committed to sustainability, understanding that culture can — and must — play an active role in building a fairer and healthier present and future.
In collaboration with the specialized company Ecogesa, we have developed our first Sustainability Plan 2025–2027, with the aim of establishing a responsible, inclusive cultural model aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda.
The plan is particularly aligned with the following priority SDGs:
- SDG 3 – Good health and well-being
- SDG 4 – Quality education
- SDG 10 – Reduced inequalities
- SDG 12 – Responsible consumption and production
- SDG 13 – Climate action
It also integrates, as secondary goals within VeT!’s sustainability strategy, the following:
- SDG 5 – Gender equality
- SDG 8 – Decent work and economic growth
- SDG 11 – Sustainable cities and communities
- SDG 16 – Peace, justice and strong institutions
- SDG 17 – Partnerships for the goals
The plan is structured around six strategic axes covering social, environmental, and economic sustainability:
- Generate quality employment in the performing arts sector
We implement fair labour practices and optimize touring schedules to ensure dignified and stable working conditions for all professionals involved in our productions. - Promote social and environmental awareness
We address current issues such as equality and emotional well-being in our productions and educational initiatives, such as the Reivindica’t programme and the performance La fotògrafa Mira. - Improve access to family and school-based activities
We aim to make theatre accessible to everyone. We offer inclusive performances and take part in programmes such as PAE and Apropa Cultura, with over 1,000 free tickets annually for vulnerable communities. - Reduce our carbon footprint
We adopt environmentally friendly practices: LED lighting, sustainable mobility, set design reuse, and promotion of public and/or electric transport. - Support emerging and established artists
Through initiatives like the Beca Mans, we provide technical support and creative spaces to companies and artists, fostering creativity and continuity in the sector. - Make our commitment visible
We want to share this journey. We will publish sustainability content on our website, social media and press kits, and prepare an annual report outlining the goals achieved and the new challenges ahead.
This plan represents a strong step toward a more conscious, grounded and transformative cultural model. At VIU EL TEATRE, we will continue to promote theatre for children with respect, quality and a sense of responsibility for our surroundings.
We care for the world from the stage.
Because growing up with theatre means growing up with values and awareness.
