The stage adaptation of Míriam Tirado’s popular children’s book, illustrated by Joan Turu, has sold more than 1,500 tickets in just 24 hours
I Have a Volcano, the new production by Viu el Teatre based on the book by Míriam Tirado, illustrated by Joan Turu, has received an enthusiastic response during the first hours of ticket sales. More than 1,500 tickets were sold in just 24 hours, confirming families’ strong interest in bringing to the stage a story about emotions that gives children tools to learn how to manage them.
The show will premiere in February 2027 at Teatre Romea in Barcelona, where it will run from 21 February to 21 March 2027. Aimed especially at family audiences and recommended for children aged 2 and over, the production invites children and adults alike into the world of Alba, a young girl who discovers that she has a volcano inside her that is calm on some days and erupts on others.
Through play, music and imagination, Alba learns to identify what she is feeling and discovers different ways to return to a state of calm: breathing, pausing, naming emotions and expressing what is happening to her. The story thus embraces anger as an emotion that is part of life and that, when properly supported, can become an opportunity for growth.

A First-Class Creative Team
The new stage adaptation is based on I Have a Volcano, written by Míriam Tirado and illustrated by Joan Turu, published by El Cep i la Nansa. The play’s dramaturgy is by Carmen Marfà, directed by Roger Julià, with artistic production by Daniel Anglès. The production also features an original soundtrack created by Els Amics de les Arts.
The project combines object theatre and music to bring the world of the book to life and translate its visual and emotional strength onto the stage. The show lasts approximately 50 minutes and will be performed in Catalan.

The strong audience response during the first hours of ticket sales highlights I Have a Volcano’s ability to connect with one of the concerns many families face: how to support children when anger, frustration or other intense emotions arise.
The show approaches this learning process through tenderness, humour, music and imagination, transforming the theatre into a shared space where children and adults can talk about what they feel.
Family performances will take place on 21 and 28 February and 7, 14 and 21 March 2027, at 11 a.m., at Teatre Romea. School performances will also be available throughout February.
